Jools Holland; Maryport Blues Festival announces first major headliner for 2008

Jools Holland and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will headline the Maryport Blues Festival on Sunday July 27th. The Sunday will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maryport Blues Festival, featuring some of the artists who have appeared at the festival over the last decade. Jools headlined the third festival in 2001 and was an obvious favourite to headline the celebrations on the Sunday.

The headliners for the Friday and Saturday and the full programme will be announced over the next few weeks.

Tickets will go on sale in March. The date will be announced in the press and on the festival website.

Jools Holland & the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra has become established as one of the most prolific touring acts in the UK, creating their own unique big band sound playing a mix of boogie-woogie, swing, jazz and R&B.; It's been a particularly busy time for the music maestro recently with the publication of his autobiography, 'Barefaced Lies and Boogie-Woogie Boasts' and top 10 chart success with his latest album 'Best of Friends'.
