who remembers this soul group out of chicago in the mid-sixties who sucessfully covered the beatles-we can work it out?

As I recall, they also did a version of 'Day Tripper' - which I'm sure from memory was definitely the Beatles song, although I don't thing it was credited to them on the Vontastics record.
Had some success, mainly in Chicago, but quit the business quite early (in the late 60s?)
