The Blue Boards / Main Forums / General R&B; Chat / Chuck Berry - Anthology Recommendation anyone?
Finally accepted I need to get a Chuck compilation on CD after my beloved vinyl gives up the ghost!
Problem is there are so many around - most of the 2CD compilations look fine in terms of the material, but what you can't tell when browsing is how well the recordings have been remastered (if at all) - I know there are one or two nasties out there. Anyone wnat to nominate a (preferably) 2CD overview of Chuck's music that fits the bill in terms of both the material and sound quality.

Thanks in anticipation

"Chuck's Killler 50" is well remastered (IMO) and has just about everything you will ever need over 2CDs. Only problem is it's an import and at the time of writing costs £21.99 on amazon.co.uk.
It is a cut above all the single CD compilations and you're right, there is a lot of dodgy stuff out there, cheap and nasty. If you can run to it therefore, I would recommend Chuck's Killer 50 as the one to get......

His Best Volumes 1 and 2 are also well remasterd (I have both) - the first volume is £7.97 on Amazon, the second is £12.99 for some reason. Part of the Chess "50th anniversary" series, nicely put together. An alternative to the Killer 50 highlighted above
