Hi everyone!

I just came across this great website, wanted to say hello and mention a drummer/singer you might be interested in called Jimmy Walker.
In the mid-60's, Jimmy was playing with The Knickerbockers (of "Lies" fame) and by the end of the decade, he joined Bobby Hatfield in The Righteous Brothers.
The Knickerbockers were not really a R'n'B band but they recorded a number of tracks influenced by the genre, all sung by the very soulfull Walker.
In the 70's, he played in several Soul/Funk bands including Oasis (Tower Of Power style) and Hot Street with Blues guitarist Bruce Conte (ex-TOP).
I had a long conversation with Jimmy a few months ago and the interview has appeared in a US publication. Please post me a note if you'd like a copy!
Walker has also produced a solo album recently. Titled "Playin' To Win", it contains original songs all written by himself and was recorded in Las Vegas.
Apart from playing the drums, he's also behind all the vocals and describes the album as "Rhythm'n'Blues with different beats and feels". The overall mood is certainly not short of diverse black music influences, authentically delivered by his powerful and still very much soulfull voice. The tracks are a mixture of Blues/Soul/Funk and names like Otis Redding, Ray Charles, James Brown amongst others come to mind.
Don't go looking for it just yet though, the CD copies he sent me have not been officially released. If there's anybody, including independent labels, who might be interested in Jimmy's work, I'd love to hear from them. Thanks!
KATY

The Primer would be interested in a copy of the interview Katy, if you'd like to share it. Any chance you might like to post it on the Shades site
