** Mike Sanchez, Bristol 9th June **

Movinmusic’s just received the following press release from Ian at Blindin’ Blues Promotions in Bristol:

“Following the success of the Climax Blues Band performance at the Polish Club in 2005 the events listed below are the programme booked for 2006. Further details can be viewed on our website http://www.blindin-blues-bristol.com or by a visit to the artist’s website listed below.

Mike Sanchez Band Fri. 9th June 2006 Fiddlers Club, Willway St, Bedminster, Bristol 0117987340
Lots of energy from this 4 piece band with Mike on vocals, piano and guitar, voted UK Keyboard Player of the Year 2002( for the fourth consecutive year), Andy Silvester (guitar) ex Savoy Brown and Steve Gibbons Band and formally  with Mike in The Big Town Playboys , Al Gare on bass & Mark Morgan on drums. Mike Sanchez is known in Bristol for his lively solo act in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis with a dash of Little Richard on piano and a hint of Presley on vocals. This is his first public appearance with his band in Bristol although many will have seen him on keyboards with Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings at the Colston Hall – so this is a good value ticket. If you dance or are a fan of rock’ n ’roll, boogie piano or jump jive then this is your kind of band.  See and hear http://www.mikesanchez.co.uk or http://www.movinmusic.co.uk/mike_sanchez.htm

Beth Rowley opens the evening with Steve Williams on keyboards. Beth’s influences range from Emmylou Harris and  Aretha Franklin to The Beatles and she sings her own material.  See and hear on http://www.browley.com

** Midsummer Blues Explosion – Bury, Lancs 17th June **

The Met in Bury, Lancs is proud to announce its own mini blues festival, the Midsummer Blues Explosion, will take place on the 17th June featuring blues legends Sherman Robertson and Chris Farlowe.

The all day event will feature some of the biggest names in Blues. Kicking off the event at 1.30 we have Bold, followed by exciting blues five piece, The Revelator Band. The headliner for the afternoon, Louisiana born Sherman Robertson has been touring for most of the last 3 decades where he has honed his exceptional guitar skills, and his ability to whip any audience into a frenzy. Blues on Stage refer to him simply as “electrifying” and BBC Radio 2 describes his live performance as “VERY VERY good indeed.”

The evening session keeps up the quality with Tantrum, Big Blue House and topped off with headliner Chris Farlowe and the Norman Beaker Band. London born Farlowe is the consummate rocker, the living embodiment of the star who's seen it all and done most of it, but remains fresh and enthusiastic. Blues Matters comments, “…you will be amazed at the energy, originality and variety…his voice is as rich and strong as it was when he started out 42 years ago.”

Tickets for the whole day including dinner in Automatic cost £20. A day ticket without the meal costs £15 and an individual session ticket (evening or afternoon) costs a mere £10. For more information and for tickets, ring the ticket office on 0161 761 2216.
