Artist Biographies

You can access all the Primer biographies by using the drop down menu highlighted by the arrow. All the artists represented qualify by making a significant contribution to R&B; over the last 60 years or so. The entries are personal and extremely partial, so you may feel there are regrettable omissions. The Primer adds to this section of the site on a frequent but hopelessly irregular basis.

The biographies all have a recommended "Primer starter purchase" and a link to the Amazon.co.uk site. Blues and soul releases go out of print with alarming regularity so if you spot any recommendations that are no longer available at Amazon, please let the Primer know by using the Feedback form. We can then offer an alternative from the artist in question.
